Bhairav Jati Temple, Siswan, New Chandigarh: A Must Visit Temple when in Chandigarh
Amidst the lush greens and the serene waters of Siswan, New Chandigarh is the Bhairav Jati Temple. Located on the Chandigarh-Mullanpur to Baddi Road, this temple is at an approximate driving distance of 25 minutes from Chandigarh. After crossing the Siswan Dam, the temple is visible from the road along with the large statue of Lord Bhairav.
History and Belief:
The temple has samadhis of Babas (the religious saints who have practised spirituality over here in the past) at its premises. While the exact date of this temple’s inception is unclear through the records, the religious head of the temple believes that it has been here for thousands of years.
The magnanimous statue is sure to leave every onlooker in awe of the spiritual strength that the place exhibits. The strength of any religion lies in the faith that devotees put in it. Devotees from different walks of life visit this temple and special offerings of alcohol are made to Lord Bhairav. This temple is believed to be a place of immense importance and those who visit to honour Lord Bhairav and seek his divine blessings, their wishes are fulfilled.
Another wondrous sight to notice at the temple complex is the large number of dogs present. While it might not be uncommon to spot dogs in locales of India, but a dog is believed to be Bhairav Baba’s ride, therefore the number of dogs in and around the temple truly signify a spiritual connection of the place.
The visiting hours of the temple are only upto 7 PM, the temple opens up at 5 AM. Another unique thing about this temple is that nobody is allowed to stay at the premises of the temple during the night. It is believed that if one were to be present here at night, it doesn’t have good repercussions on the person’s life.
Devotees visiting the temple premises can expect more sangat for Darshan on Sunday. Ample parking space is present. Once the devotees reach the temple, there is a staircase that leads up to the main complex. After doing Parikrama and seeking blessings of Lord Bhairav devotees can proceed to the Langar arrangements area on Sundays. One might notice that the Langar or Bhandara is done out in the open, as it is believed that the premises can not be covered in a permanent ceiling of brick and mortar.

Via Bus: If you’re coming to visit the temple premises via bus, you can board a bus to Baddi, Himachal Pradesh from ISBT Sector 43, Chandigarh. The temple is located on the main road to Baddi.
