About the temple

Mangal Chandika Shakti Peeth is considered among the 51 Shakti Peethas, famous in Hinduism. Mangal Chandika Shakti Peeth is located in Ujani village of Guskara in the Bardhaman district of West Bengal state. Guskara railway station is about 16 kilometers away from the temple.

The word Chandi means 'skilled or clever,' and Mangal means 'Welfare,' Goddess, who is skilled in doing welfare, assimilates to Mangal Chandika. Moreover, Durga is called Chandi, and the son of Earth is named Mangal.

The 'right wrist' of Goddess Sati is said to be fell at Mangal Chandika Shakti Peeth. The spiritual powers of Goddess Sati and Lord Shiva are placed in the form of 'Mangal Chandika' and 'Kapilambar,' respectively.

History of the temple

According to the Puranas in Hinduism, wherever the body parts or ornaments of the goddess Sati fell, they became Shaktipeethas. These Shakti Peethas are holy shrines of Goddess Sati (Adi Shakti), which are spread throughout the Indian subcontinent. These Shakti Peethas are very important from a religious point of view. There are a total of 51 Shakti Peethas mentioned in Devipuranas.
