The natural beauty of the land of India is what drives tourists and travel enthusiasts from across the country and the world. Right next to the bus stand of Dalhousie, you would find the Tourist Information Centre which is of great guidance for first time tourists to the city. There are many options for hotels in the vicinity of the bus stand. The facility to rent out taxis and two-wheelers is also available at shops near the bus stand.
As we move along the course of approximately 14 KMs from Dalhousie we arrive at the picturesque surroundings of Dainkund. The highest point of Dalhousie is Dainkund and it is a trek climb of almost 2KMs. As you reach the base point at Dainkund from Dalhousie, you would find ample parking space for your vehicles.
Pohlani Mata Temple:
The Pohlani Mata Temple resides at the peak in Dainkund. Trekking towards the temple you would find locals selling jadi-butis (herbs). Saying that the natural surroundings would leave the tourists awestruck would be quite an understatement. The greenery and the natural beauty are sure to leave you spell bound. The Dainkund Trek towards the Pohlani Mata Temple is roughly about 1.5 KMs. The views of the valley and the mountain range are beyond what any camera or words could capture. It is a surreal feeling meant to be experienced within. The temple premises reside between two hills. As per mythology it is believed that Pohlani Mata appeared here in the form of a Trishool (Trident) and later on her idol was installed here. Devotees are often seen carrying a trishool as an offering to the temple and keep it at the temple premises for their wishes to be fulfilled. There is another temple right next to the Pohlani Mata temple, where Lord Shiva is worshipped. Along with the Shiva temple, Bhairav Baba is also worshipped here in the form of a natural rock. Amongst all these devotional delights for devotees is also the Kailash Darshan of the Mani Mahesh Kailash of the Chamba Region which is visible through the telescope installed at the Pohlani Mata Temple.
While the cultural amalgamation and the natural beauty of India could leave you gasping for a breath, it is also important to note your duties as a responsible tourist. One must always remember to leave the tourist spots cleaner than they were found. The mountains open up their generous and wide arms to welcome humans. They give us experiences and moments that we would cherish for a lifetime, therefore it is also equally important that we respect and keep the dignity of these places by keeping them clean and taking our garbage along or disposing it off in the right manner.
